Ferring Pharmaceuticals Launches 2015 Heart to Heart Video Contest Supporting Families Who’ve Overcome Infertility
Parents Encouraged to Share Triumph over Infertility for Chance to Win Educational Grants
PARSIPPANY, N.J., April 20, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — Ferring Pharmaceuticals Inc. today announced the launch of its 2015 Heart to Heart Video Contest, coinciding with National Infertility Awareness Week (NIAW). Through the contest, Ferring strives to inspire hope for the millions of Americans affected by infertility, and raise awareness of the disease.
“It is very common for patients to feel that they are facing infertility alone,” said Dr. Grace Couchman of Carolina Conceptions, the fertility center of the 2014 Heart to Heart Video Contest winners. “Initiatives like Ferring’s Heart to Heart Video Contest are important for building a sense of community among families facing infertility and reminding them that they have a support system of those who face similar challenges.”
Parents who enter the 2015 Heart to Heart Video Contest have a chance to win up to $10,000 toward their child’s education. Through August 31, 2015, contestants can submit a creative video that fits the theme “Have Heart, Share Hope,” capturing the story of their journey to parenthood and offering words of support to others facing infertility. Videos can be submitted through the Heart to Heart Video Contest website, www.hearttoheartcontest.com.
Since 2004, Ferring has donated nearly $200,000 to families through similar contests. Now in its third year, the Heart to Heart Video contest has not only helped parents save for their children’s education, but has also advanced efforts to break the silence around the difficult experience of infertility by facilitating the sharing of infertility stories.
“Our infertility journey was a roller coaster, and maintaining hope through the tough times was so important,” said Lisa Park, who along with her husband, James, were winners of the 2014 Heart to Heart Video Contest. “Throughout our experience we’ve learned infertility is more than just one family’s struggle – and we’re appreciative that Ferring gave us the opportunity to speak up, spread hope and offer support to other families facing the diagnosis.”
The deadline for all Heart to Heart Video Contest submissions is August 31, 2015. Entries will be reviewed by a committee of individuals from third-party and patient advocacy organizations from the reproductive health community, who will select the top five finalists. The public will then be invited to vote for their favorite video on www.hearttoheartcontest.com. The video submission with the most votes will win $10,000, while the remaining finalists will each win $4,000 for their child’s education.
