Ferring US Supports Expanded, Inclusive Fertility Access in California

Ferring USA Website Story

Ferring is dedicated to advancing reproductive medicine and supporting the fertility community. The recent implementation of California’s new fertility coverage mandate is a significant step toward ensuring more aspiring parents can access vital fertility treatments, like in vitro fertilization (IVF). By mandating coverage for fertility preservation and IVF through large group health insurers, this legislation will give an estimated 9 million Californians the opportunity to pursue a family.

We applaud California for enacting legislation that expands access to fertility treatments. The law, which went into effect at the beginning of this year, redefines infertility to remove previous barriers to care. It ensures more inclusive coverage for everyone who aspires to be a parent, including single parents by choice and LGTBQ+ couples.

Recognizing that expanded access is only meaningful if people understand what it covers and how to use it, Ferring launched two initiatives.

  • First, the team developed and distributed a patient-centered guide to help individuals better understand their insurance benefits and navigate their coverage with confidence.
  • Separately, Ferring hosted informational sessions for California fertility practices and clinic staff to outline what the mandate means in practice and how coverage would be implemented.

While tailored to different audiences, both efforts were designed to increase clarity, improve access, and ensure patients and providers feel informed and supported. Many of these resources can be found on Fertility Out Loud, Ferring’s digital and social platform that provides resources and community for aspiring parents.

From pioneering advancements in fertility care to raising awareness of infertility and advocating for greater access, Ferring is committed to building families. Because Family is at the heart of Ferring.
